Unhappy patient 😌 My husband is a patient here,he used to see the nurse practitioner and she was great. But she had moved out of the area and now we see Dr B. And I have to say he seems to be a nice man but hard to understand, and as for getting prescriptions or referrals it's a nightmare, they hardly ever answer the phone, and when you leave a message you might get a call back In a couple of days if they even call you at all. We've been trying for 3 weeks to get medicine and still haven't received anything, maybe they are understaffed, overbooked, I don't know.but If you're looking for a new primary I wouldn't recommend.
I LOVE Jill Burnett. Myself and my babies see her. She's so good at listening and affirming your health concerns. She respects parent choice in regards to vaccines. The best family practice I've been to in years. 10/10
New patient appt today. As a Diabetic patient, I am disheartened by this location's lack of empathy and professionalism. I patiently waited to be seen bc I understand how short-staffed the medical field is right now, so although I had an appt for 8 AM, I was not seen until 9 AM. That did not upset me. The first nurse with whom I shared my health concerns led the conversation. She was accompanied by a nursing student who shadowed her. She had begun asking me to explain my reason(s) for coming in. I noticed she did not have any of my intake paperwork printed out to reference. I completed it online before my appt, so I am unsure why she did not have it with her. I noticed her hand on her head as she said, "I am trying to remember what else I should be asking you because I have not done a New Patient appt in so long." Then, proceeded to say, "Wait, I should be writing down your current medications." I was already anxious, so to witness this in person made me more anxious. I felt I was not going to be treated for my disability, but rather a "dismissed patient." Upon entering the Triage room, the nursing student came in. She gave me a HIPAA form to fill out. I could tell no one checked the system, bc if so, they would've seen that I had already completed the form out electronically before my appt. I was then seen by my primary PCP, Michael Milano, APRN. He came in asking me questions that I had already answered. He then asked me if I had a referral to see him, to which I said no referral was authorized for me to see you. He negated me and stated, "It says here you have Florida Blue Health Insurance." I expressed to him that I did not have Florida Blue, so he looked back at the computer and said, "Oh, I clicked the wrong patient." At this point, I felt completely uncomfortable. As the session continued, I reiterated my health concerns and expressed to him that I had a testing accommodations form I needed to have completed. He looked at me and said, "For?" At that point, I could not believe that I was being dismissed for a third time. How could someone in the medical field dismiss Diabetes, when according to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is deemed a medical disease that disrupts the quality of life of people? I went on to briefly explain how I went into Diabetic Ketoacidosis two years ago, and now how it has traumatized me due to almost going into a diabetic coma, and dying, before he interrupted me saying, "I don't have a lot of time to hear the back-story of how you were admitted two-years ago, what I want to know is where are you now?" I seriously contemplated getting up and walking out of my appointment because of the blatant disrespect I could no longer allow anymore. I asked him, "Are you a Doctor or a Nurse Practitioner?" He stated that he was an APRN, so I said, "From a Doctor to Nurse Practitioner, I am advocating for myself as a patient right now, not a Doctor. I am providing you with concerns about my health, which has led me to this office to receive proper care for my disabling condition. In addition to that, I was also informed by my Endocrinologist to take my testing accommodation forms over to a PCP to have them completed." Nurse Practitioner Milano stated his refusal to sign the forms because he stated that my A1c levels were stable, which they were. He walked out to consult with his team and came back, stating, "Since you are a controlled diabetic based on your A1c, I do not feel you should receive testing accommodations, because your level is controlled." I expressed to him how I experience low fatigue, lack of concentration, the need to eat, take medication, and wear a sensor on my arm, which goes off a lot due to a decline in glucose levels. I had to remind him to check my skin, showing him my neck and under my arms. His demeanor changed bc knew my title in being a Doctor, so thereafter, he placed me on antibiotics, ordered Labs, sent out two referrals, and is lancing me next week. I am concerned about the procedure next week based on my experience.
My wife and I had a humiliating and discriminatory experience at this office. She does not speak English fluently and used a translator on her phone. Despite this, the staff did not provide any assistance, made her wait for over 2 hours without response, and eventually mocked her. When closing time arrived, they called the police to remove her without ever providing any medical service. This treatment was not only disrespectful, it also violates fundamental rights. I do not recommend this place to anyone who values dignity, equality, and the basic respect every patient deserves.
I’ve been coming here for a few years now, and the service has just progressively gotten worse. The Nurse Practitioner, Jill, is wonderful, but I cannot speak for the rest of the staff. There has now been two occurrences where I have come in for Nurse visits, checked in, and been forgotten about and told something along the lines of “You were never properly checked in on our behalf, i’m sorry”, after waiting for over an hour. Now today, I was supposed to have a Telehealth appointment, which was then accidentally scheduled as an in-person appointment from the front desk. It is often an inconvenience coming here, which is followed up with little to no sympathy. I understand health care is short staffed, I have worked health care myself, but the bare minimum is the least I could ask for. I am sorry to be so blunt, but I drive 30+ minutes to come to this office and I have been an understanding patient, but my patience has run thin.
