We contracted with Brightside Painting to retexture two small areas of our kitchen ceiling and repaint that portion, remove old wallpaper from a 29 sq. ft. powder room, and follow with painting and new wallpaper installation. The scope and methods were detailed in standard operating procedures (SOPs) and included in the written contract. Unfortunately, there was a significant gap between what the SOPs stated and how the work was actually carried out. Over four days, the crew consisted of five laborers (polite, but with significant language barriers), a supervisor present only part of the time, and a project manager who dropped in occasionally. The old wallpaper was removed over two days by one worker. A different worker applied the skim coat; yet another applied two coats of paint on the walls. The new wallpaper was hung by two workers — one holding a can of glue as the other put the paper up. The results fell well short of professional standards. Visible seams, overlapping edges, and mismatched prints marred the wallpaper. Skim coat residue was left on the window, baseboards, and bathroom pipes. Paint along the baseboard was uneven, with visible drips, and dropped skim coat simply painted over. The project manager acknowledged the new wallpaper needed to come down. He offered to reimburse us for the cost of replacement wallpaper and waive charges for both the kitchen ceiling retexturing and the wallpaper installation — neither of which met a professional standard. We agreed to cover the charge for removing the original wallpaper and to take responsibility for having the new wallpaper removed. That removal has since been completed and sections of paint came off with it. Wallpaper applied over two freshly painted coats that hadn't been given adequate time to cure was always going to end this way. This was done by a company that calls itself a painting company. We are now looking for someone reliable to fix the damage left behind.
We recently moved into a new home and knew we wanted a fresh paint job on our walls and trim. The team worked within our timeframe and completed everything in time for our move-in. Ben’s recommendations on color and sheen were especially helpful, who knew there are so many variations of white! We are very happy with the results and highly recommend Bright Side Painting of Jax!
I would recommend Bright Side to anyone in need to painting or wallpaper services. From beginning to end, the experience felt organized and professional. Astrid and Ashley communicated well throughout the project. I'm so pleased with the outcome!
I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Bright side painting and their amazing team! They have exceeded all our expectations. Mark stained and repaired our old mahogany door and brought it back to all its glory. His skills and dedication goes above and beyond. The paint job on our cabinets is first class, they look brand new. Highly recommend this company and I look forward to having them for more projects. Thank you to the entire team!
I had a great experience with Bright Side Painting Jax. Trey was extremely professional, honest, and straightforward throughout the entire project. I really appreciated that he was upfront about any potential issues he anticipated and communicated them in advance, rather than letting anything become a surprise later. He was reliable, easy to work with, and clearly takes pride in doing things the right way. I would definitely recommend Trey and Bright Side Painting Jax to anyone looking for a trustworthy and professional painting company.
