I typically don't rave about restaurants but Cantina Louie in Fernandina Beach FL is one of those 1 in a 100 restaurants. Great food and drinks but their prices, I believe are the lowest in Fernandina Beach. I am not a big drinker and usually settle for house margaritas but I could drink 3 bottled beers and 3 margaritas for the one top shelf margarita my brother in law buys! My wife ordered a skinny margarita (less sweet) and I think I liked it more. Adrian, acted like he wanted us to enjoy every aspect of the meal going above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect! They have great Happy Hour and weekend lunch specials! If you are in the area, give them a try. Ask for Adrian, he will check on you every 5 minutes! Wilber, the manager has a great staff! Great experience! Nataly was wonderful. Unbelievable great happy hour! We'll be back! 6 stars!
SouthWest born and raised guy raised on South of the Border food and rink who moved to Nassau. I was looking forward to finally trying this place but was disappointed. I give it 5 stars for its atmosphere, artwork, lay out, patio and cool bar. Drinks get a 1 star: much to be desired... the margs were priced right but had zero taste. How do you forget the lime juice and agave? Food: mostly 2 star: Chips seemed fresh but they must have used old deep frier oil and you could taste it. Salasa had zero flavor. Let's go over the tacos---Grilled Mahi taco had great flavor but was so wet the sogginess overpowered it (3 stars). Surf and turf taco (steak and Blackened shrimp) with siracha cream gets a 5 star (very good). Blackened shrimp taco - the shrimp was under cooked and overall taco was very soggy (2 stars). Blackened scallops taco did not pair well with the taco stuffing so the scallops get a 5 by themselves but the rest of the taco gets a 1. My wife ordered the shredded California burrito and said it was very bland, didn't finish it. Service (2 stars): Bar tender was very friendly but clearly unexperienced and was over worked while the bar area was full with patrons, the rest of the staff loitered around the restaurant and did not help out. They also messed up the food order but they made it right. Nice person or not the service itself lacked.
The food was honestly not that good and the service was terrible. Which was a shocker because this place is very highly rated. The guacamole was great though! The host was pretty bad. She never made any eye contact with us and seemed lost in her own little world. We asked multiple staff members for extra plates and none were ever brought to us. The Carne asada was way over cooked and tasted like Montreal streak seasoning, which didn't do the whole Mexican restaurant theme justice. The atmosphere was really good and it's a well thought out location, but man did it leave a lot to be desired.
My husband and I stopped in as we were at the plantation on vacation, and were a day early for a restaurant month, But still ordered the fajitas for two and they were amazing! Service, value ,food and atmosphere were fantastic.
The food was just okay. The meat in both tacos were bland, as well as the chimichurri. The refried beans were decent enough, but could've also been seasoned more. I also tried their horchata, but it was way too sweet! The only things I enjoyed that night was the chips and guac. There's too many great Mexican restaurants in Jacksonville, and a few in Yulee to settle for this place.
