We play quite frequently as NAS and have always enjoyed all three 9 hole courses. Sadly though, Blue 9 (aka Blue Angel Course) is in horrible condition. The rough is 6-8" everywhere! The primary cut of rough around the greens is so tall that we lost balls when hitting shots just off the green on several holes. I would advise you ask if they've cut recently before you pay. Such a shame. I recall a time when the base Commanding Officer was a golfer. Back then you'd NEVER see the course like this.
This golf course was an abomination. Not family friendly at all. We called and asked if we could take our kids out to play 9 holes and asked for a tee time, and the man in the pro shop insisted that we didn’t need a tee time for 9 holes. When we showed up, he promptly scoffed and said that no children under age 8 are allowed to play. WHAT!? We have 3 kids under 8 and they play competitively in US Kids golf tournaments. The pro shop man was so rude. This isn’t Augusta😂 Not sure who made this policy but it needs to be revised. Military kids need to be able to play on base. Ridiculous! To add insult to injury, the starter chased down my husband, who was carrying our range balls because he needed to use the bathroom and didn’t want anyone to take them, and yelled at him for taking them too far from the range. These people take themselves WAY too seriously!
Amazing course! I was in town for a few days and played multiple rounds. The tracks was excellent and the white course was my favorite. Overall the course was in great shape and the pro shop was nice. The staff also treated me to the best of their abilities. Would recommend it anyone in the Jacksonville area.
Didn't even bother to play my tee time. Called the day before to verify that my son (18 months) could just ride in the cart with us (we have a quick disconnect harness made for golf carts). They firmly insisted (quite rudely) that no kids are allowed on the course. MWR really missing the mark on this one.
This is a really good track, 27 holes, challenging. Unfortunately the greens are in pretty bad shape right now. I played here same time last year and they were outstanding. I'm sure they'll do whatever is necessary to recover them.
