I have had this on my list to go and visit. It is one of many beautiful beautiful churches I've been to. I am Catholic so that has a very big reason behind why I wanted to and been wanting to go to this place. The architectural alone From the Inside Out was beautifully done they paid attention to so much detail when it came to this cathedral. There are so many small areas within this massive Cathedral to pray to light candles to many different Saints. They also have a gift shop in there and this is finally where I was able to go to purchase rosary beads for my car and for me and my husband to wear everyday on our wrists I can't find that in other places down south because most Christian stores do not sell rosary beads unfortunately and that's okay. This was something that I was waiting to do for a very long time and it was very special for me and my husband to do together. It was our anniversary we were able to get blessings and be able to pray and let him handle and it just made that date even better. They did have mass earlier on Sunday that's when. The detail was something I had never experienced and I am so glad I was able to witness something so breathtaking and stunning so gorgeous be done a house of the Lord and a place of worship to be absolutely amazing. St Augustine beautiful statues outside that were done with such great taste and the fact of being able to have the history told you and every little bit about the saint that it was after and the fact had it written so beautifully on something that's going to last many many many many many many decades. It is something you should absolutely go see and experience if this is something you are interested in if it has to do with your faith religion or you just like to be able to visit a piece of history with breathtaking architecture in a lot of beauty on every angle this is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime thing you should do. At the time I was there was the afternoon time and they did have a tour going on and I wish I would have known that they had that option because I would have loved to do it to learn more would have been an amazing option but regardless I am very happy I went.
We went to Saturday vigil Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, and for a second I thought a choir of angels was singing. It was a group of about six children, roughly ages 5 to 12, and they were perfect pitch. I honestly thought it was a recording. Props to everyone behind that choir, and to their parents. The cathedral itself is beautifully maintained. The ceiling, the walls, and especially the stained-glass windows are amazing, and the grounds are perfect. A great place to celebrate Mass if you are in town, and a fine setting for a special occasion if you are local.
Beautiful church! Oldest Catholic Church in America…established 1565. The church bells are wonderful to hear and the interior is beautiful with gorgeous stained glass. There is candle lighting available. The Mass was lovely as well. Parking is available in the parking lot across the street from the church. If you are attending Mass you need to get a sticker to park in the lot or you will have to pay to park.
Beautiful and worth the visit. Easy to find since it is right downtown. No one was inside to answer questions, but we grabbed a pamphlet that served as a guide. So much to see. There are lot of details to explore. Incredible murals, alter and stained glass windows, bust and smaller chapels just to mention a few. I wish there was a guided tour because there was so much to see.
This basilica has a beautiful interior, with intricate art and an inviting atmosphere. I love the ceiling art in particular, as well as the side niches dedicated to saints. The choir and instruments are great too.
