Our intention was to try a local bagel shop in the historic district, but after fighting busy tourists for a $20 parking spot we simply cut our losses. Cornerstone was in a far less busy part of the city and had welcoming, local vibes. The bagels were not traditional rather they were soft with crispy edges. When we saw that “Asiago everything” was an option there was no looking back. If you’re looking for quick, simple, local, and charming then you’ve found your next cafe in Cornerstone.
Hidden gem. Well worth the visit. Great location, good food, light music, comfortable seating. Ordered Jalapeno Cheddar bagel with bacon, avocado and pepperjack cheese, it was delish! Luke's Gilmore Girls mug was an added touch!
Best Bagel Breakfast Sandwich in St James Augustine! We just picked up Asiago bagel sandwiches on our way out of town and I wish we tried this place sooner. The bagel is fresh and melts in your mouth. The egg and cheese is divine. Try this place you won’t be disappointed!
I was excited to see a cute little cafe to hunker down in while passing through St Augustine. I was of the mindset that most cities have a great little cafe that has a good bacon egg and cheese and solid lattes. That assumption was crushed when I stepped into Cornerstone. Most places have some sort of Gluten Free option for folks like me with celiac disease. It’s a basic food accessibility accommodation. Not only did they not have any GF options there, but they just didn’t care. They weren’t even sure if the POTATOES had gluten. It’s bare minimum training at a food serving establishment to know what you’re serving and to be aware of allergens and cross-contact standards. Anyway, yada yada. I’ve dealt with this before and just ordered a naked bacon egg and cheese, no bread. They gave me that, and I regret not leaving and finding another place to eat that cares about food in general. The sad offering I got was just not even trying to two round, rubbery, overcooked discs of egg and some crumbly bacon and American cheese (I asked for cheddar). The Arnold Palmer was ok, bordering on too sweet. Try harder, Cornerstone. I never understand when a business actively excludes potential customers and doesn’t try to make the best version of their product. I’ve had better food at McDonald’s- literally.
Charlie was amazing! He was the only one servicing customers and he was so patient calm and quick/efficient. The food was delicious and the cold brew was like none I had before! Excellent! If you're ever in the St. Augustine area, check out Cornerstone Cafe!
