Dental Sleep Medicine of Jacksonville

I had been using a CPAP for at least six months and determined that I regretted not looking into a dental appliance for sleep instead. After some research, I determined Dr. Krantz to be the best qualified sleep Dentist in Jacksonville. I discovered upon making my first appointment that he is transitioning his practice over to Dr. Lauren Humphreys. I decided to go ahead with the appointment and was glad I did. The front office person, Ashton, was very friendly and knowledgeable when I called. She had been with Dr. Humphreys for a number of years with a good working relationship. Once there for my appointment, Ashton checked me in and she was just as pleasant in person as on the phone. I was then sent in for x-rays with Shanna, the dental assistant (pleasant and welcoming as well). She also went over some printed information on risks of sleep appliances that I needed to sign. Dr. Humphreys then came in and carefully reviewed my x-rays and history with me. She noted some bone loss between my front teeth which might be exacerbated by an appliance. She patiently explained any questions I had about this. So while extremely disappointed that I was not the best candidate for a sleep appliance, I was grateful to be given the information to make my own risk/benefit decision. I decided to stick with the CPAP but was glad I ruled out the sleep appliance as I would always wonder if it was a good option for me. I would not hesitate to look into sleep dentistry here at this office if you are considering ditching your CPAP or want to start out with an assessment for a sleep appliance. Just be aware there are two buildings with the same address in the parking lot and you want the one with three stories, not two. The entrance is behind the building - various small businesses and restaurants are on the street facing side.

Dr. Krantz is an expert when it comes to sleep health! He and his team showed exceptional care throughout the entire process of molding and fitting my oral appliance, and they were always happy to take the time to answer any questions I had. I can’t recommend Dental Sleep Medicine enough!

Yesterday was my second appointment, which was to pick up my oral device for sleep apnea. From my very first phone call to pickup, the office has been warm, friendly, and extremely professional! Dr. Krantz was very thorough during the initial exam and again yesterday, reviewing everything about the appliance. Dealings with Adria, who runs the office feels more like a visit with a friend. I wore my appliance last night for the first time and slept over seven hours, which is somewhat miraculous! Keeping my fingers crossed that this is the new norm and feeling confident that if I have any issues moving forward, I have the support that I need.
