Finally tried this place for the first time on a Tuesday night. I was surprised to find it completely packed, and we had to wait for a table. Fortunately, the wait was only about 10 minutes. While waiting, I could hear the live music playing on the outdoor patio, which added to the lively atmosphere. Once seated, chips and salsa arrived within seconds. I had been craving fajitas, and we also decided to sample a variety of tacos. We ordered the beef tongue, pork belly, pulled pork, and steak tacos, along with a margarita on the rocks. The margarita was quite good. The tacos were phenomenal, each packed with distinct flavors and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the fajitas were the worst I’ve ever had. I’m not sure what cut of beef was used for the shredded beef, but it was tough and dry; seasoning was okay. I definitely won’t be ordering that again. The ambiance was energetic thanks to the live music, and our server was polite, attentive, and always greeted us with a warm smile. Despite the disappointing fajitas, I will definitely return for the tacos and look forward to trying other items on the menu.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ La Catrina is an absolute masterpiece of ambiance, artistry, and flavor. From the moment you walk in, the place hits you with a burst of vivid color and cultural soul — murals that feel alive, bold strokes of traditional Mexican art, and light fixtures that glow like sculpted jewels overhead. Every corner is visually electric, like stepping into a living gallery where the décor tells its own story. The food matches the atmosphere beat for beat. Rich, authentic flavors, beautifully plated dishes, and textures that show real craftsmanship. Every bite feels intentional. And the service? Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, the kind that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. Soray, our server was also part of that great experience. La Catrina isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience. A celebration of art, culture, and extraordinary cuisine. Already looking forward to the next visit.
I really wish I could leave 3.5 stars cause it wasn't THAT bad. The pros: burrito supremo was delicious, chips were fresh, salsa was descent, staff very friendly, resturant clean and well decorated, Cons: Most quesadillas come with tomatoes, we got charged $1.00 to add to a small portion of quesadilla, $2.50 for 2 sides of sour cream because the questilla doesnt come with it i guess? Chicken fajitas lacked flavor, rice lacked flavor. Sour cream was edible but the worst tasting sour cream I've ever gotten at any restaurant 🤔 overall its an ok place, would we come back, no... just due to lack of flavor/food quality for the price.
We have been to La Catrina in St. Augustine multiple times, and it is always good, but tonight was exceptional! We brought two guests with us who had never been before, and they loved it too! Jimena was our waitress, and she provided some of the best service we’ve ever had. The restaurant was very busy, but you would never know it from the level of attention she gave our table. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the entire meal. The food and drinks were amazing! Definitely recommend the spicy margarita and the shrimp fajitas—both were fantastic. Our son loved his cucumber margarita, and the tableside guacamole was extra good tonight! Jimena truly made an already great restaurant experience even better. 10/10 for the food, drinks, and especially the service. Our first-time guests are now fans too. We’ll definitely be back!
The food was delicious! We ordered the chicken quesadilla, and it was great. The vibe was really cool, and there was plenty of seating. Definitely recommend checking this place out!
