Ocean Coast Hotel at the Beach

I recently stayed at the Ocean Coast Hotel and unfortunately my experience didn’t match the expectations set by the name. To be clear, this is a motel, not a hotel, and as a woman traveling alone, that discrepancy made me feel less safe. There were a few things I appreciated: the room had some updated features, and having a midsize refrigerator instead of the typical tiny one was genuinely helpful. I also appreciated the convenience of an in-room microwave. However, several issues made my stay difficult. Some of the older light fixtures didn’t work, and one of them could only be turned “off” by physically removing the bulb. The room had a very strong, unpleasant smell that actually woke me up multiple times the first night. The water itself also had an odd odor. Only conditioner was supplied (no shampoo), the hangers were dirty enough that I didn’t want to hang my clothes on them, and the boxes that house the cords for the lighting were very dirty. Upon arrival, I had to wait several minutes at check-in while the clerk complained about another customer over the phone. And most concerning, *every time* I used the provided hairdryer—even with no smoke or heat damage—the smoke detector went off. While I appreciated the attempts at updating, the overall experience was uncomfortable, and I hope management addresses these issues for future guests.

Brought hubby here 7 years ago to celebrate becoming a dad. Thought about bringing him back for Father’s Day weekend but sheesh the reviews are frightful! We loved this place. What’s going on?

I was not impressed. I was schedule to stay 1/30/25- check out 1/1/26. We arrived around 8pm, got the keys then went to dinner before the restaurant closed for the evening. When we got back from dinner and checked into the room, I thought I saw a bug when opening the cabinet to see the fridge so that freaked me out. Could have been just shadowing. There were stains on the bed skirt, the bathroom shower head was all rusted and hard water stained. Like another reviewer said, it's more like a motel then a hotel so the next morning we got up without showering (no one wanted to use the bathroom at all, not even the toilet) and booked a night at the Residence Inn next door. The pictures show a very quaint hotel but that is not what it looks like when you arrive. The reviews showed promise so I was disappointed for what I got at the price we paid for 2 nights. Fortunately, they did give me a refund for the night I didn't stay as we checked out early but they did not refund the parking cost for the 2nd night which was no big deal since it was only $10 a day.

A little bit older hotel, but very convenient and clean. Free parking. The hot tub was not working, but the pool is heated. I do recommend you bring your own pillow.
