As the wife of an author who has book signings here, I cannot praise San Marco books and more enough! The staff is always so helpful and so nice. Their selection of books is amazing. You just want to spend hours in there.
Do not advise buying from them! Found an antique rare book offered by San Marco on a reputable bookselling website; their listing said "Ask for pictures," which I did. They responded in a timely manner with several photos, and initially were responsive when I followed-up via email, but although the book was described and shown as worn, when it arrived the front cover was basically detached, making the book impossible to read without the front cover completely falling off. I then exchanged emails with them about the situation, documented with photos. Bought the book in April, wrote them in May and June, but although initially they stated "We certainly did not ship it that way" and "it is not how we do business," their shipping envelope wasn't damaged on arrival and its now been another month and although I sent them a reminder, they've stopped replying and haven't made things right. UPDATE 7/2/26: After I posted the review above I suddenly heard back from San Marco Books (6/12/26) offering a partial refund. I immediately hit reply and said "OK" to their offer, and then they went silent again! So to again give them the benefit of the doubt, I sent another email 6/27/26 asking what's up... and again, no reply at all. So, sadly, I cannot recommend doing business with San Marco Books.
Amazing local bookstore! Great variety of items. Classic and modern. Great for book lovers like me They take cash and have a cool vintage register. But they also accept Apple Pay
Great book store! San Marco Bookstore has a vast selection of genres, signed copies, cute stickers, bookmarks, t shirts, mugs, candles, and more! I loved the copies that I purchased (one was limited edition). I enjoy bookstores and find them to be treasures, I prefer to purchase books at cute shops like this! Mike was kind and helpful, highly recommend and I will be returning! 😊
I'd like to give this store a perfect five because the place is very nice and unique, but I didn't get a single greeting or asked if I needed help finding anything unlike the other customers who entered. I felt a little singled out. Other than that, the place looks really nice. The aisles are bit tiny, but I managed. It's a cute bookstore with many old book collections and gifts you can buy for other book lovers.
