I came here due to increased pain from my kidney stone. I was seen immediately by the nurse and didn’t wait long at all until Dr. Flack came in. Dr. Flack is extremely attentive and the most important of all he did not make me feel rushed. He allowed us to ask questions (even some stupid ones) and answered them without any attitude. Which is rare nowadays, unfortunately. I haven’t felt that way during a doctor’s appointment in many many many years. It was a lovely experience despite the severe pain.
Urgent Care
1000 Plantation Island Drive South, St. Augustine
I recently visited UF Health Urgent Care due to concerns I may have been developing early signs of pneumonia since I had a cold that was already going into week three and my lungs made a crackling sound whenver I exhaled. I first went to another clinic that Saturday morning, but they were still in negotiations with the USAA Hero PPO plan and informed me I was unable to see a docter until the details of their negotiations had been fully vetted. Not an issue, I went to UF Health Urgent Care and immediately found they do accept the USAA Hero PPO plan and was able to get checked in immediately. And by the way this was on a Saturday and while weekends are generally a little more busy than early morning weekdays, the receptionist greeted me with respect as she did will all the patients that arrived after me, and she answered all my question and with a smile. As for the wait, I expected to be seated for a while due to the number of patients that arived before me, but it was less than an hour. The nurses there greeted me with smiles and did a very good job at taking my vitals and getting a clear perspective on the reason for my visit. Dr Jones, a Physicians Assistant was on staff that morning and he did an excellent job educating me on the symptoms of pneumonia, and quite frankly I was relieved to discover I was still in the safe zone. I'm nearly 70 years of age and at my age I don't want to take any health risks still having a 19 year old daughter at home. Dr Jones prescribed me some antibiotics. The clinic faxed it over to Walgreens pharmacy and by the time I arrived they were just finishing up filling the prescription. I highly recommend this clinic if you have the need for urgent care for yourself or your family, but keep in mind there are others in the community who have children or are visiting the clinic for themselves and depending on the time of the day and the day of the week your visit wait times my vary. They do have masks available at the front desk if you feel the need to wear one. My suggestions is to get there as early as you possibly can. They open at 8:00 AM every morning and close at 8:00 PM Monday through FRiday, 6:00 Saturday and Sunday.
As someone else stated below... this facility doesn't bill as an urgent care facility. They bill by provider, therefore your insurance processes it towards your deductible, instead of as an urgent care copay. This should be illegal! Went in, was charged my $30 copay in office. Got a bill months later for hundreds of dollars because of the way they bill. Shameful way to operate.
Could not ask for better care. Being on vacation from MA...all the staff especially Rebecca, Dr's. Holland and Owen's were all professional, thorough, understanding and provided excellent care and guidance. Many thanks to the treatment that you all provided to my husband.
I visited UF Health Urgent Care for the first time and was impressed with the staff and facility. I was warmly greeted and waited for less than five minutes before being taken back. Rebecca, my nurse, was warm, cheerful, great to chat with, and incredibly professional. We shared a few laughs that made the visit feel like visiting a friend. PJ, the physician's assistant that treated me was very professional, knowledgeable, and experienced. He explained my options and the procedure in easy to understand terms. I was pleased that he took the time to do so because many doctors do not. We enjoyed a friendly conversation during and after the treating procedure, finding common ground in our higher education and local friends. He did an excellent job and sent me home with clear instructions for after-care and follow-up. The facility was immaculately clean and efficient but it was the staff that made my visit EXCELLENT! Thanks PJ and Rebecca for a great experience.
