Valerie is a kind, compassionate and caring therapist who loves her work with children and teens. She does well with trauma using EMDR and play therapy. She is fun and relatable with teens and supports the entire family. I am grateful to know that I can send referrals with trust and confidence.
I regret bringing my child to see Valerie. I was in the middle of a divorce. We brought our child in as a couple who's first priority was their child. Valerie would regularly email my former husband personally to talk about our child and to discuss a hobbies that my former husband and her husband shared while refusing to respond to my emails. She is an expert in toxic triangulation. Professionally, she is a detriment to any couple bringing their child to her. I brought this to the attention of another provider who has collaborated with her. She said she is known in the community to do this and she refused to refer patients to her due to her issues with boundaries.
Working with Valerie has been such a delight. She’s so very knowledgeable, skilled, conscientious, helpful, responsive, and truly seems to care for what’s in the best interest of her clients.
As a child, adult and sports psychiatrist myself, I can’t tell you happy/relieved I get when I co-treat patients with or refer patients/families to Valerie and they follow up with her. Val is a stellar therapist who I can vouch for as an absolutely terrific human being as welll! When I refer to Val, I know she’s going to get the patient in quick for therapy, and he/she is going to be in wonderful hands with Val's knowledge/intelligence, experience, compassion/empathy, responsiveness, and overall skill set - including strong collaboration with other providers like myself - to provide the client/family the very best care in which everybody is on the same page. Valerie truly cares and goes the extra mile for her clients/families, which definitely makes a HUGE difference to the clients’/families’ overall therapeutic experience and improvement! I wholeheartedly recommend Valerie Brink as an outstanding therapist, and all our co-treated patients report that they truly enjoy going to see Val and that she’s helped them tremendously, which is the greatest complement of all! Valerie brings 30 years of child trauma therapy treatment with her helping so many children and families. She is excellent at keeping kids safe and honoring injunctions for domestic violence, having them feel heard and creating space for them to heal from their traumas. She is respected by therapists, judges and schools, a true professional.
