Local tips

Apply for a School Readiness subsidy through the Early Learning Coalition if your income qualifies, and check whether your employer offers a dependent care FSA.

Ask about sibling discounts and whether tuition drops when your child moves up an age group.

Get the closure policy in writing, including hurricane days and what happens to tuition.

Be careful of unlicensed care advertised in neighborhood groups. It may be cheaper, but there is no inspection record and often no liability coverage.
