Question 1

How much is quarterly pest control in St. Augustine?

Accepted Answer

Quarterly general pest service for a typical single family home in St. Johns County runs about 95 to 160 dollars per visit in 2026, or 350 to 600 dollars per year, usually with free callbacks between visits. Initial service is often 150 to 250 dollars. Monthly or bimonthly plans cost more but suit homes with heavy roach or ant pressure near wooded lots and ponds.

Question 2

How much does termite treatment cost in Florida?

Accepted Answer

A liquid barrier treatment for subterranean termites on an average St. Johns County home runs about 1,200 to 2,800 dollars, and a bait station system is 1,500 to 3,000 dollars to install plus an annual fee. Tent fumigation for drywood termites costs roughly 1,800 to 4,500 dollars depending on the size of the house. Annual termite bonds run 250 to 500 dollars after the initial treatment.

Question 3

Do I need a termite bond in St. Johns County?

Accepted Answer

It is not legally required, but most local real estate agents and lenders expect a current WDO inspection at sale, and a transferable termite bond is a selling point. Given subterranean termite pressure in Northeast Florida and the presence of Formosan termites in parts of the region, a bond with repair coverage is cheap insurance on wood-framed and older homes. Ask whether the bond covers drywood termites too, since many do not.

Question 4

How do I get rid of palmetto bugs?

Accepted Answer

Palmetto bugs are large outdoor roaches that wander inside from mulch, palms and leaf litter, so the fix is outside. Keep mulch a foot off the slab, trim palms and shrubs off the house, seal gaps around doors and pipes, and have a licensed company treat the perimeter and attic. A quarterly plan controls them in most St. Johns County homes. Inside sprays alone rarely work.

Question 5

What does a WDO inspection cost?

Accepted Answer

A wood destroying organism inspection in St. Johns County typically costs 75 to 150 dollars and is often bundled with a home inspection. The inspector checks for termites, wood decay fungi and wood boring beetles and issues a Florida form that lenders accept. It is required by many lenders, including VA loans, and is strongly recommended on any home more than 10 years old.

Question 6

Who handles rats in the attic in St. Johns County?

Accepted Answer

Roof rats are common in Julington Creek, Fruit Cove, Nocatee and anywhere with oaks and palms touching the roof. Rodent work is usually a separate service from quarterly pest control. Expect an inspection, exclusion work to seal entry points at 400 to 1,500 dollars, and trapping visits. Attic insulation cleanup after a heavy infestation can run 2,000 to 6,000 dollars. Some companies hold wildlife permits for raccoons and squirrels as well.
