I have participated with Girls On The Run mentoring young girls in our school systems for 20 seasons. I’ve seen the impact that the program makes and the effort that the facilitators put in to make this program a success! Being a volunteer takes a big heart and a lot of your personal time especially when you’re a teacher already volunteering for so many things. I applaud all of our teachers and volunteers!!!! Girls on the run of Northeast Florida is a huge effort and I hope that the program remains in Florida and is a huge success for years to come! Girls on the run is number one!!!!

Girls on the Run is life-changing! My daughter has been part of Girls on the Run since she was in 3rd grade (she’s now a senior) and she’s loved every minute of it. Watching her confidence and joy grow through this program made me want to bring it to my own school. I started a team here, and for the past few years my daughter has served as a junior coach alongside me. This organization is so much more than running. GOTR teaches girls about self-worth, friendship, healthy habits, and leadership in a way that truly sticks. The curriculum is amazing, the coaches are passionate, and the end-of-season 5K leaves these girls feeling unstoppable. As both a mom and a coach, I’ve seen firsthand the impact it has. Girls walk in a little unsure and walk out standing taller. I’m grateful every day that we found Girls on the Run. If you’re thinking about signing your daughter up or starting a team at your school — do it. You won’t regret it. Thank you, GOTR, for the difference you make!
This is my first year, coaching girls on the run and I am beyond proud of everything that we accomplished with these children. Even though our program was only eight weeks long, I was able to see the confidence build in so many students that I just did not feel would have had the opportunity to grow where it not for some of the wording and presentations of these lessons. The girls did become faster runners but more than that they became friends and I think that that is the biggest Takeaway from our time together.
This program has had a lasting impact on both of my daughters in both running and becoming more self-confident. They are now adults and continue to use a lot of the tools/goal setting strategies from their GOTR years. The positive changes I see in the girls who are a part of GOTR is what has kept me returning as a coach for the last 10 years.
Girls on the Run is truly an incredible organization, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. As a coach, I’ve had the privilege of watching the girls grow and develop so much over the course of a season, not just as runners, but in their confidence, teamwork, and sense of self. It’s amazing to see them come out of their shells, support one another, and realize what they’re capable of. The curriculum is thoughtful and empowering, and the community of coaches and volunteers is so passionate and supportive. This program goes far beyond running, it helps shape strong, confident young women. I feel so lucky to be a part of it and would highly recommend it to any family considering it!
