Almost every nurse and CNA who helped take care of me during my stay was absolutely amazing. Every nurse listened so well to my preferences, made me feel heard, and treated me with so much kindness and compassion. Being away from home for so long wasn’t always easy, but the care and support I received from the staff truly made it all worth it. I especially want to recognize Lauren from Labor and Delivery. She was so incredibly attentive, and I always felt like I could talk to her about absolutely anything. No matter what department she was working in that day, she always made it a point to find me and check on me, even after I had been moved to different rooms several times throughout my stay. That meant more to me than she probably realizes. I’m also so incredibly grateful that Lauren was able to be there with me through my delivery. Having someone I trusted and felt so comfortable with by my side during such an important moment made the experience even more special. I truly can’t thank her and the rest of the nurses and CNAs enough for everything they did for me.
I was a transport bc the hospital near me is a stand alone and unable to preform the procedure I needed and was diagnosed and upon arrival ī was basically put in a room and left for my own. Only one doctor seemed to care and informed me I was going to have the procedure I needed and was placed in npo. After being there for 7 hours, a doctor noticed I had no fluids and asked why I wasn’t on an iv. My fist nurse was rude and snapped at me when I told her I had to pee. She asked if I could walk and I said idk because I have had multiple doses of morphine that didn’t work, yet they still continued to give it to me. I answered her and she still was rude asking me if I wanted a bed pan, ī said no the toilet several times. At that point I was so mad I was willing to hurt myself to get to the bathroom. Later, now 9 hours in and still in excruciating pain X-ray is there to take me to get an image. I say I’ve been here how long and now they want an image? Her reply was emergent people come first…nine hours! It felt like my insides were being ripped apart..oh wait bc they were! They just brushed off my care bc it’s just a kidney stone. No, it’s not. It was the third one I’ve had in 10 days with 4 visits to the ER and two months prior ī had a kidney stone on the same side that brought me in so it wasn’t fully healed yet. I had a stone traveling thru and injured ureter that also was obstructed. I was in agonizing pain for over 24 hours that couldn’t be controlled. Later that night around 10 or 11 ī pages for help…it took a while hour for anyone to come in and I was screaming for someone to help me the entire time. I had no voice by the end. When someone finally arrived I said do you guys not believe me or something bc I called someone an hour ago and she snaps at me…I was doing an admission, if I though she was stable enough I would have left her. I couldn’t believe she said that. I’m not psychic and that was a valid question! I told her, well I understand you’re busy but you’re not the only one in this hospital, no one else could have come in to check on me only you?! Her demeanor changed after that. The next morning ī asks yet another nurse ī he no idea who she was if she knew when urology was coming to do the procedure. The PA informs me that I wasn’t scheduled for a surgery and whoever told me that doesn’t make their schedule and I would have to come back and make an appointment after the weekend! Not even 30 min later, the same doc from the night before who said I was getting surgery comes in to take me wherever and I ask are you sure bc I was just told I wasn’t. Never saw him again. At this point ī have no idea what is going on. By now the stone had shifted and no longer causing the tremendous pain..mind you this started Wednesday morning well into Friday morning with multiple rounds of morphine and one round of Dilaudid and Dr. Moore informs me that there was nothing seen in my X-ray. Another doctor ī have no idea who she was comes in and tells me I’m going home bc Dr. Moore isn’t going to do anything. Her exact words. Why on gods green earth would he order an X-ray for kidney stones when they don’t always appear? That’s why a CT is done bc I literally saw my scans from the day prior with three very visible stones in my body. When I got home I read all the notes and noticed I was only there for observation. I could have done that at home bc that is not the reason why I was transported there. They let me stay in that condition for what? The next day ī finally passed one of the stones…yet Dr. Moore said I had no stones. Is he aware that uric acid stone are radiolucent? I know this and all I did was take three months of a radiography program! The entire staff that took care of me the following day, Friday, were amazing and I told them I wished they were the ones that were with me when I first arrived. I will NEVER come here again and that’s after I’ve said so many positive things about this location, even saving my life during Covid. Patient care has gone down the drain.
Every single staff, from the point of check-in through admissions and my entire 4 days' stay were professional and courteous. That includes departments from housekeeping to Radiology. That includes - The Case Manager, RNs, PCTs, and Doctors. That said, there were several staff that were just exceptional! and have contributed to my decision that HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is now my preferred hospital. Yes, I have been elsewhere in the past. A big THANK you to the entire team - those in the forefront and those behind the scenes. So why 4 stars and not 5? Because excellence is a pursuit not a destination. Please, keep up the pursuit. Thanks again.
Horrible degrading experience. The doctors that really care about your health an well being are far an in-between at this hospital. I appreciate the doctors here that cared for me. I kept going back because I felt like they were saving my life when the pain center dropped the ball to becoming a person whose health physically or mentally was taken serious. I personally want to thank dr. Euwame an holiday an their nurses if you two would have not intervened an made the best decisions to help what you were assessing not just seeing the words pain management an passing judgment who knows how long it would have taken for someone to see me. There after it has been a nightmare doctors watching you cry an can't walk without assistance an just don't care. But im grateful to the nurses or ma that would watch me struggle an help me walk or put me in a wheelchair. Relate; show empathy. You are greatly appreciated but the integrity an oath some of the doctors took at this place is truly sad. Walked out several times feeling the same way as when I walked in. Experiencing symptoms of fibromyalgia is no joke but it showed me how chronic pain or anxiety or panic disorders mean absolutely nothing to some of them. I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance this week an they asked op or baptist. Im happy I chose baptist they helped me a great deal. If you need to go there just make sure you stand up an advocate for yourself.
The Emergency Room staff were very receptive to finding out why I was very sick and weak. They took MRIs and discovered my lungs had an overload of fluid, 6 liters to be exact. They enrolled me into the hospital the following morning and started taking me to dialysis for 3 consecutive days The hospital staff wete able to reduce the fluid, but my blood pressure did not decrease until the doctors added another medication. Within days, my blood pressure decreased to a safe level, and allowed my pressure to return to normal. I was released within 2 days@
