Yamasaki modern sushi

I mentioned sushi conversation earlier in the day so yep, we went to get sushi for dinner. We tried a new-to-us place: Yamasaki Neptune Beach. They're in the plaza that was recently renovated at 556 Atlantic Blvd. We ordered two appetizers, one of which was Gyoza. I was excited to get in on some Gyoza since she all of it from last night on her own lol. The other one was Crispy Rice Tuna, which neither of us have ever had before. It was more or less a fried sticky rice cake with a spicy tuna pâté. It was right at the edge of what I can do for spicy / hot but we both liked it a LOT. I went with the American Dream roll which means I'm going to be talking like Dusty Rhodes for the rest of the evening and I'm totally OK with that (daddy). Great news: neither the spicy lobster nor the spicy mango sauce was too hot for me! I liked the roll a lot so it was not in fact, hard times. My wife tried the Angry Dragon. The Orange Edamame sauce sounded interesting to both of us and it was, in a good way. You can see from the photo that the toppings were piled high, which was great. We enjoyed our first time here and I can tell you that our server Chris added to that. Really attentive, nice and had good suggestions regarding the menu once he found out it was our first visit. What an incredible dining experience! The octopus was, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had—fresh, tender, and perfectly prepared. Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The service was attentive, professional, and intuitive without being intrusive. And the atmosphere? Simply exceptional. Elegant, welcoming, and perfect for a memorable evening. This is easily one of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve visited, and I can’t wait to return.

We ate here for dinner last night and I cannot stop thinking about it! The food was delicious. Thank you to Chris who guided us to the most delicious appetizers and for taking such good care of us. The 24 hour braised short rib and tuna truffle were to die for!! The short rib was so tender!! The lychee martini is one of the best I’ve ever had! The sushi omakase was phenomenal. The quality of the fish was so fresh. The only thing that is probably a personal preference is how much wasabi they used in each piece. I think a little goes a long way! It sometimes overpowered flavor profile of the toppings on the sushi. We ended the night with a yummy matcha crème brûlée! Overall, a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!
