My experience with McCabe & Ronsman was extremely frustrating, particularly regarding their billing and communication practices. I received an invoice for the balance and later made what I understood to be a one-time payoff of the amount owed. At the time of payment, I was not clearly informed that additional or revolving interest would continue accruing based on the original balance. Instead of promptly notifying me that a balance remained or that interest was continuing to accumulate, months passed before I was made aware of it. That is the most concerning part of this experience. When a customer is attempting to pay an account in full, any remaining balance, ongoing interest, or additional financial obligation should be clearly disclosed at the time of payment—not allowed to quietly accumulate for months and then be presented later. In my experience, the lack of transparency and timely communication surrounding the interest and payoff process was unacceptable. I found these billing practices deeply troubling and inconsistent with the level of professionalism and ethical treatment I would expect from a company serving the public. I strongly encourage anyone considering doing business with McCabe & Ronsman to carefully review every invoice, request written confirmation of any payoff amount, and specifically ask whether additional interest, fees, or balances can continue accruing after payment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company.
I don't trust a law firm who employs an attorney who stated to my HOA President that he's scared to get sued. My neighbor's dog dug under our shared fence and was able to get ahold of my dogs leg. The damage was so severe my dog had to have emergency surgery to have his leg amputated. When our HOA represent Carla Masters at Leland reached out to our neighbor for her side of the story she allowed our neighbor time to find a holistic nurse practitioner to write a prescription to make her dogs emotional support animals. The prescription was written over a month after the attacked happened and after we notified Carla Masters at Leland. When this information was reviewed by your attorney he stated he was scared our neighbor would sue if any action was taken against her. As your firm should know emotional support animals DO NOT have the same protections as service animals. In fact, ESAs have very limited legal protections & are NOT protected under the ADA. The law also states if an ESA behaves distruptively, poses a safety risk, or caused property damage (dog are considered property in Florida) in housing where they are legally allowed, a landlord or homeowners association ( HOA) can legally deny or remove them. We submitted evidence that showed this was not the first time our neighbor's dogs have attacked and injured our dogs...they have tried to attack us when we are in our backyard...they have tried to attack the other families dogs that live on the other side of pur neighbor. We do not feel safe to have our Grandchildren in our backyard & we cannot leave our dog unattended in our own fenced in backyard in fear that he will be attacked again. After your attorney's one and only email to us stating he was not going to do anyhting, he has ceased all communication. It's ironic that your attorney stated he was scared our neighbor would sue, but he is not worried that if any other incidents were to happen in the future that we would not sue for his disregard to protect our family or any other family in our neighborhood even with the evidence we presented.
My experience with McCabe & Ronsman raises serious concerns about the firm’s reliance on account information provided by its client without adequately resolving obvious discrepancies. Despite documented payment records and repeated challenges to the accuracy of the claimed balance, collection efforts continued. I found the process unfair, intimidating, and unnecessarily burdensome. The conflicting balances and continued collection activity left me questioning whether sufficient effort was made to verify the debt before pursuing legal action. As a result, I have filed complaints with the appropriate regulatory authorities and am seeking further review of the matter.
This legal firm represented my HOA. When I tried to reach out to them to get clarification they said they would be happy to forward communication to the lawyer specifically handling my account, but they’d charge me money. So essentially if I wanted to get clarification about how they were using falsified documents (my ledger references payments made in 2021, but I didn’t even purchase the home until 2022) about my account I’d have to pay money to them even though I never consented to be in business with them to begin with because anything they charge my HOA will get charged back to me. I’m not sure who I despise worse… this legal firm or my HOA.
Jim Roche with McCabe Ronsman provided me with excellent information, which proved extremely helpful in a case that I was dealing with. He was up front, honest, and informed. I highly recommend Jim Roche as a professional attorney!
