Do St. Augustine restaurants take reservations?

Some do and many do not. The higher-end dining rooms downtown and in Ponte Vedra Beach take reservations, often through an online booking app. A lot of the casual favorites run a walk-up or text wait list only. If a place is important to you, call that afternoon and ask. Holiday weekends and Nights of Lights evenings book out days ahead.

What is a reasonable price for dinner in St. Johns County?

In 2026, a casual sit-down dinner runs about 20 to 35 dollars per person before drinks and tip. Mid-range spots in Ponte Vedra Beach or on the bayfront land closer to 40 to 70. Fine dining with wine can pass 100 per person. Lunch is noticeably cheaper nearly everywhere, and the same kitchen often serves smaller portions of the same dishes at midday.

Where do locals eat in St. Augustine?

Locals tend to skip St. George Street at peak times and head to Anastasia Island, Vilano Beach, the US 1 corridor and the neighborhoods along SR 16 and SR 207. In the north county, Nocatee Town Center and the Julington Creek plazas along Race Track Road are the default. Ask a server where they eat on a night off and you will get a good answer.

Is parking hard near downtown restaurants?

Yes on weekends and during events. The Historic Downtown Parking Facility by the Visitor Center is the easiest bet and charges a flat daily rate. Street spots are metered and short. Some restaurants on the edges of downtown have small lots. If you are coming from the beach, the Bridge of Lions backs up around sunset, so allow extra time.

Which months are busiest for restaurants here?

March and April bring spring break and good weather, and the holiday light season from late November through January packs downtown every night. Summer weekends are busy at the beaches. Late August through early October is the slow stretch, when it is easiest to walk in anywhere and when many restaurants run specials.

Do restaurants here add gratuity automatically?

Many do for parties of six or more, typically 18 to 20 percent, and a few downtown spots add a service charge for everyone. Florida law requires it to be disclosed on the menu or receipt. Read the bottom of the check before you add a tip, because doubling up is an easy mistake on a busy night.
