How much is a hotel in St. Augustine per night?

In 2026 a decent downtown or beach hotel room runs about $160 to $280 a night in normal season, with historic inns and bed and breakfasts from roughly $200 to $400. Chain hotels near I-95 and World Golf Village are often $110 to $180. Nights of Lights weekends, spring break and summer Saturdays push most of these up 30 to 60 percent.

What taxes and fees get added to a St. Johns County hotel or rental?

Expect the Florida state sales tax plus the St. Johns County tourist development tax on the room or rental rate, which together add roughly 11 to 12 percent. Hotels may add parking and resort fees on top; rentals add cleaning fees and platform service fees. Ask for a total before you book if the listing does not show one.

Is it better to stay downtown or at the beach?

Stay downtown if the historic district, restaurants and Nights of Lights are the point of the trip and you want to walk. Stay at St. Augustine Beach, Vilano or Crescent Beach if the ocean is the point and you do not mind a 10 to 15 minute drive and parking downtown. Families with kids usually do better at the beach with a pool.

Do St. Augustine vacation rentals have minimum stays?

Often, yes. Beach condos and houses commonly require three to seven nights in summer and over holidays, with weekly stays the norm in some Crescent Beach and Ponte Vedra buildings. Off season you can find two night minimums. Some HOAs set their own minimums, commonly 30 days or more, which is why a listing may vanish.

Where can I park if I stay downtown?

Many downtown inns have no lot and point guests to the Historic Downtown Parking Facility on Castillo Drive, which charges a daily rate and fills early on busy days. Some properties include a reserved space or valet for an added fee. Ask before you book, because moving your car during Nights of Lights is a real headache.

Are hotels in Ponte Vedra Beach much more expensive?

The oceanfront resorts in Ponte Vedra generally start around $350 to $500 a night and climb from there, with higher rates during THE PLAYERS Championship in March. Rentals in Ponte Vedra and Nocatee range widely, and chain hotels along CR 210 and in Nocatee Town Center offer rooms closer to $130 to $200 with a short drive to the beach.
